Congratulations on being an Alpha+ Club recipient in the most recent semester! In an attempt to honor students in all classes, the Alpha+ Club was formed to celebrate "the select many" as opposed to the "select few." This tradition, established by Mr. David Hunter, the original Vice Principal at West Hills, allows teachers each semester to select one student from each of their classes to receive this prestigious award. The selection criteria are broad and meaningful, focusing on scholarship, attitude, conduct, improvement, eff ort, and intellectual curiosity.
The name Alpha+ is derived from Aldous Huxley’s novel, Brave New World, where the Alpha+ caste represented the thinkers and doers performing the most difficult tasks. Because our nickname is the Wolf Pack, a second meaning has emerged over the years: the dominant members of a pack are known as the Alpha Wolves. It is only fitting that the academic leaders of the West Hills Wolf Pack be recognized by the same name.
We are especially proud to honor some of our students who have shown remarkable consistency by receiving five or more Alpha+ awards during their time at West Hills. These select students were celebrated at Senior Awards in May and wore a ceremonial stole at graduation to celebrate the hard work and character over their 4 years at West Hills.
We are incredibly proud of your commitment to excellence and your role as a leader within the West Hills Wolf Pack.
